For many people their Kitchen renovations can be one of the most expensive home improvement projects mainly due to the high cost of replacing essential kitchen appliances like stoves, refrigerators, kitchen cabinets and the like. There are, however, some kitchen renovations that you can do that do not cost a whole lot and can make your kitchen look brand new.

For example, if you think you need to replace your worn out kitchen cabinets then you may want to stop and think for a moment. Brand new Kitchen cabinets can cost many thousands of dollars to replace so it is advisable to explore other options before you discard your existing timber cabinets. If your existing timber cabinets are quality made and still functional but look old and decrepit it is possible to deep clean them so thoroughly that they almost look brand new again. A timber cleaner/polishing product made by a company called ‘Old English’ can bring back the natural beauty to any wooden cabinet. One bottle of the product typically is enough to do an entire kitchen’s worth of cabinets. If you are not keen on cleaning the timber cabinets why not consider painting them first and if you are still not happy you can then go ahead and replace them with new ones.

Stuff That Sounds Expensive But Is Not

Some Kitchen renovations can get expensive, particularly if you need lots of labor to do the work. If you reno involves any electrical or gas and plumbing work it is essential (if not a legal requirement in your particular jurisdiction) that you engage the services of a qualified trades person. While these tradespeople can charge quite a lot for their work it is better to pay for a professional job rather than have to spend thousands rectifying any work undertaken by a novice.

Many people find that upgrading their kitchens floor covering is relatively inexpensive but is something that can effectively transform the kitchen’s external appearance. For example sometimes you do not have to incur the expense of lifting the existing floor boards instead you just have to lay a new covering down. A new hardwood kitchen floor that consists of quite inexpensive one foot squares can be put over your existing floor very easily and the resultant look is incredibly appealing. Your local home renovation store should have a nice variety of easy to install hardwood floor coverings for you to choose from. The cost of this flooring can often be a little as a few dollars per square foot.

If you want to renovate your kitchen walls as part of your kitchen renovation but think that you may have to completely remove the existing walls because they look uneven or have cracks in them then think again because there are some less expensive options available to you. One option is that there are many different types of durable wall paneling available that look so much better than the standard dark brown paneling that you are probably used to seeing. This advanced and improved wall paneling is available from most good home improvement retailers and for less than $15 per 4’x 8’ sheet you can make your kitchen walls look brand new again.

So don’t despair, even homeowners on incredibly tight budgets can undertake kitchen renovations that are relatively inexpensive but at the same time effective. With a little imagination and creativity you can transform your kitchen from a dull and boring area into one that is bright and modern.
