How important is it to choose the right bathtub?

If you are like most people, we spend a large amount of our free time in the bathroom. Although women are more likely than men to enjoy the benefits of a nice long soak in a bath, more men than ever have admitted to soaking in the bath at least three times a week. Therefore, it is of no surprise that one should take their time in selecting out the perfect bathtub for their respective house.

If you are renovating or building a custom home, you should not hesitate on spending the correct amount of time on your bathtub. There are several things to keep in mind when you are selecting the right bath tub. These things include, but are not limited to the color of the bathtub, the size of the bathtub and the features that come with the bathtub.

First, the color of the bathtub. You should coordinate the color of your bathtub with the color of your bathroom and/or bedroom. You have so many colors to choose from and you are no longer limited to just the white porcelain bathtub anymore. These colors vary from black, red, pink, gold to the more traditional off-white or tan colors.

The second thing you will need to choose is the size of the bathtub. You might be limited to size and space so you will need to take these limitations into consideration. If you are lucky enough to not be limited to size, there are some amazing choices when it comes to two-person bathtubs. But remember, the larger the size of the bathtub, the more water you will use. Whatever size you choose, always be aware that the size is large enough to support your entire body.

Finally and some will say most importantly, is the general features of the bathub you choose. There are so many different features that come with the bathtubs now. Some of the typical features that have been around for a while are whirlpools or jet streams as well as handicap features such as small handles or bars. Currently, the market now offers multiple features with bathtubs. Some of my favorite features on bathtubs are walk-in bath tubs, free standing tubs (i.e., not attached to the floor) and traditional Japanese deep bathtubs that come with mini massagers.

No matter which bathtub you end up choosing, I think the general consensus is that most of us enjoy long soaks in the tub after work. In fact, several studies have shown that soaking in the tub on a consistent basis reduces stress levels and actually improves your health. Thus, if you want to improve your health, spend the appropriate time selecting out your bathtub and happy soaking!
